    • @EverydayCars
      @EverydayCars Месяц назад

      Not necessarily, if the previous owner drove at high speeds on EV it will get in the 30’s for range. If you keep it under 45mph you will get better range. I would drive it a couple of weeks and see if the range goes up. I only get about 47 miles range in good weather. I used to get 58 or so. But I do have all weather tires on the car now also.

  • @shenmisheshou7002
    @shenmisheshou7002 Месяц назад

    If you slow down to about 68, you can get 44 mpg to 46 mpg on the highway (not in cold temps), and this will give you a range of about 260 miles without using any of the battery. While you may be going slower, because you have to stop less on a long trip, the overall trip time is not that much different, you save gas, and the comfort is higher because it is quieter in the car. I had a bit of uneven tire ware on my first set (car was purchased new) but they still went 40k and I now rotate the tires every 5,000 miles. I put the hitch on mine myself. It was not hard to do. I love my Clarity. It is 6 years old. I only have about 46K on it, but it has been trouble free. Except for trips and the very rare occasion where I have to go more than 45 miles in a day, I run almost entirely in EV mode. I take a couple of long trips a year (2000 -3000 miles) so all of my other driving has been more or less in EV mode. Coupled with the 44 mpg on the highway, and relatively low cost for electricity (about $.10 average for where I live), the Clarity has been super-cheap to run.

    I'm kind of wondering why you got these over the CrossClimate2's. The price difference seems small and you talk up the CC2's a lot.. Only $24.00 difference for my Camry hybrid. That's a McDonalds breakfast for two. I have a set of CrossClimate2's on my Camry that now have 77k miles on them. I'm expecting to take them to near 100k before replacing them. They are amazing tires, but they killed my fuel economy on my hybrid. It went from 48 mpg to 40. I'm figuring at this point they have cost me about $600 in extra fuel expense. After 77k I am now getting 45 mpg, but it's been a long time coming back up. I am very interested in the WeatherPeaks because I think they wouldn't hurt my mileage so bad. How did they effect yours? I would love to see a side by side test against the WeatherPeaks vs the CrossClimate2's, but there aren't any. Just speculation at this point. It amazes me there are no tests comparing the two side by side. They seem like the most likely contenders to be tested against. I still have another 20 to 25k left in my CC2's. I'm hoping somebody will test them together before I have to make my decision.

    • @EverydayCars
      @EverydayCars Месяц назад

      I had the Firestone all weather tire before so I wanted to try Bridgestone next. I thought about the CC2 but I got a good deal on the Bridgestones. The Bridgestones definitely have a softer ride and my mpg has been similar to the Firestone. I believe I lost 3 or 4 mpg from the OEM fuel savings tires that came on the car. But having piece of mind in bad weather is a lot better then a few mpg. I was going to try the CC2’s next to get a little sportier handling.

    • @escheidl
      @escheidl Месяц назад

      @@EverydayCars Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure the CC2's will handle noticeably better on these kinds of cars. My car does handle very nice with them, but it's not that kind of car. It does handle nicer with the CC2's than it did with the original Firestones FT140's that came on the car. I think I might enjoy a softer, quieter ride that I'm hoping the WeatherPeaks might offer. As long as it doesn't come at a traction, hydroplaning, and braking cost. And if the mpg's improve I'll be really happy. I don't mind a little loss for the improved safety over the OEM's. But an 8 mpg loss was a hard bullet to bite. I'll be very interested in your future reviews on these tires. I still have about a year before I'm going to have to replace them. I wish you were coming from CC2's to these so I could know how they compare. But I'll take what I can get. 🙂

    • @EverydayCars
      @EverydayCars Месяц назад

      I put 20k to 30k miles on my car a year. I have about 13k miles on them now. I’ll do another update at about 25k miles to see how they are wearing. I only got about 45k out of my Firestone weathergrip tires.

    • @escheidl
      @escheidl Месяц назад

      @@EverydayCars That's funny, 45k is what I got out of my Firestone FT140's. But I don't recall ever getting more than 55k out of a set of tires. These CC2's on my car have 77k on them right now and they are still showing 5-6/10ths tread depth left. Unfortunately, at my last rotation they told me that they are starting to wear more on the insides now than the outsides. It's too late in the game to pay for a wheel alignment now since I will just have to do it again when I get the new tires. Besides, once a wear pattern starts there's no way to stop it. So I have an appointment to have the tires dismounted from the wheels and swapped to the other side of the car so I can put the wear side on the outside and let the insides wear more. Hoping to change the pattern so I can hit the 100k mark. However whenever they reach 4/10ths they will go. The funny thing is that the WP's (WeatherPeaks) have a higher UTQG rating than the CC2's do. The WP's are rated 700 for Treadwear with a 70k warranty and the CC2's are only rated 640 with a 60k warranty. So on paper, the WP's should actually last longer. The other interesting thing with the UTQG ratings is that the WP's have a rating of AA for Traction/Temperature, where the CC2's are only BA indicating that they have less traction somehow than the WP's. Of course the real world is where the story is truly told. That's why I really wish somebody would pit these tires against each other and let the facts be known. I'm sure the UTQG rating system is full of holes. But it still really makes me wonder why these two very competitive tires have never been put into the same testing arena.

    • @liljohn3152
      @liljohn3152 Месяц назад

      @@escheidl Great comment thanks for sharing. I was looking at the CC2's personally, but the WeatherPeak's are the ones offered in my tire size, while the CC2's are not. Something else to consider, is the speed rating. The WeatherPeak's are V rated tires (up to 149mph), while the CC2's are only H rated (130mph). Not that it really matters for most people. But my car is supposed to have V rated tires. So anyways i'm ordering my WeatherPeaks' tomorrow. I'm looking forward to them. Have a great day.

    After my last set of tires (I think they're Nokian All Weather, and the cheapest, like $105 each in late 2017) I am sold on All Weather tires. Mind you I don't put many KM a year on my car. Late 2017, I have had a slow leak in my front driver side tire for at least 1.5 years, I need to put air in every 2 weeks ($2 a pop), then it was 1 week, now we are down to 5 days and another slow leak in one rear tire, so I finally decided today, after airing the tire this morning before work, it's time for new tires. I went for the Firestone Weather grip. I am the one who uses only one set of tires. I used to drive All Season tires, even during the winter, which can be nuts up in Northern Ontario, but I'm a good driver and I got by. Until I tried a set of All Weather tires. They're amazing. BIG difference in snow and ice. They really only started to feel like All Weather tires, not working well this past winter. They weren't any good but All Weather tires are awesome for someone like me. I do not want the BS of changing and storing a set of tires when the season changes. I don't even rotate my tires. Hopefully the Firestone, which are not the cheapest tires you can buy (like usual with me) are decent.

    If you’ve hopped up your ecoboost with a tuner. These are not the plugs for you. I’ve had a repeated cylinder 5 plug failure with these NGK ruthenium. They just aren’t cold enough to handle more boost and higher temps.

    This is a charging software error. From this point if you actually drive the car, you will see the actual miles you get from the odometer (starting zero your trip A). When the EV number gets to zero, read your trip A number. I bet you, it should be under 50.

      Nope I was actually getting about 62 miles of real range back then. It was perfect weather and most of my commute was under 50mph.

    how often does the filter need to replaced? everytime, or every other time? I noticed you didn't change the filter.

      If I don’t see any metal in my oil I will probably never change the filter. I am going to change the fluid at every 50k. These Ecvt are damn near bulletproof even if not maintained.

    Man are you stupid? You’re supposed to drive the car and if the leak is bad, you all add the whole bottle! And then you drive the car!
